Characteristics
Moderately fast growing conifer with upright main branch from which a lot of side branches sprout. The plant can get very old (>1000 years), and reach heights of more than 10 meters. The slightly horizontally growing twigs have small, dark green needles. Fruit berry shaped with red cover.
Applications
Because it tolerates pruning very well, the Taxus baccata is the perfect hedge plant. The plant is also very suitable for shape pruning, in old castle gardens one can often admire fantasy-shaped Taxus. The plant grows well in the shadow and tolerates drops from trees that tower over it.
